A Dangerous Hurricane is Forming in the Southern Mediterranean

Information has been received from the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Athens. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns Bulgarian citizens and all traveling to or staying on the territory of Greece that there is a very high chance of the formation of a Mediterranean cyclone in the southern Ionian Sea.

The hurricane will carry winds at a speed of 150 km/h, as well as heavy rains that can cause flooding.

The movement of the Xenophon cyclone is expected to evolve in the east, accompanied by strong rainfall and winds in most of Peloponnese and Crete on Saturday morning (29.09), then in Attica, Euboea, and Cyclades, and on Sunday morning (30.09) to reach the islands of the eastern Aegean Sea and possibly the Dodecanese.

There is a ban on the departure of ships from the ports of Piraeus, Rafina, and Lavrio.

Due to the bad weather on Friday, September 28th, all schools and kindergartens in the municipalities of St Dimitri, Alimou, Argiroupolis Elinikou, Glyfada, Kallithea, Moshato, Nea Myrmi and Palyo Faliro will be closed.

All those residing or traveling to the specified areas should be careful and follow the instructions and recommendations of the local authorities if they are issued.
