European Researchers' Night in Bulgaria

Тhe European Researchers' Night is an event that takes place every year simultaneously in about 300 cities all over Europe and beyond. You can go alone, or with your family and friends, to explore the magic of the science in many engaging ways.

This year the European Researchers' Night will be on Friday 28 September 2018. Sofia, Burgas, Ruse, Varna, Stara Zagora, Plovdiv, Sliven, Pleven, Blagoevgrad, Gabrovo, and Dolna Mitropoliya will be the participating cities in this year's edition. Each of them has prepared an amazing program to attract visitors and show them what science is capable of.

Competitions in which young people could participate in were organized just before the Night. “REFRESH Photo and Video” was an online competition for young people in which participants were challenged to find evidence of science and research, make a photo or a selfie with their mobiles, or shoot a 3-minute video about a science topic, and upload them. “REFRESH Touch” was a drawing competition for children and young people with hearing disabilities about how they see themselves in science. “REFRESH Girls in science” was an online essay competition for girls on how they see themselves in science and technology.

Scientists are boarding the Rhodope Narrow Gauge to convince passengers how seemingly complex issues could be explained in a comprehensible way. On 28 September, on September-Velingrad route at 8:31 am, a group of young Bulgarian scientists presented the scientific issues on which they work, make demonstrations, answer questions, and show how vast science is.

This European Researchers' Night project is funded by the European Commission under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. The project includes at least 14 towns with live-streaming, face-to-face events at schools, libraries, museums, city venues, and public transport, science talks and shows, experiments, lab visits, etc.
