Bulgarian Military Monument in Nis, Serbia was Desecrated

Bulgarian Military monument-ossuary near Nis was desecrated. In the memorial, rest the bones of 2,015 Bulgarian soldiers died for the liberation of Yugoslavia in the ending phase of World War II.

By decree of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva, Bulgarian Ambassador to Belgrade Radko Vlaykov expressed a strong outrage in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia.

He insists on the immediate erasure of the damage to the monument, the disclosure of the perpetrators, and the distinction of the Serbian authorities from such vandal acts because such an act revives the hate speech and frightens the election of national councils for national minorities in the Republic of Serbia on 4 November 2018.

Ambassador Radko Vlaykov commented that the assault on the military monument is in complete contradiction with the excellent climate of bilateral relations. The Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regretted the defamation of the monument and emphasized that the vandalism is unacceptable in dissonance with the excellent relations between the two countries.
