Eurostat: Bulgarians Prefer to Travel by Car

Bulgarians prefer to use cars in their daily life or for tourism comparing to other vehicles, according to data from 2016 from Eurostat. The study is dedicated to the European Mobility Week.

About 84% of Bulgarians prefer to travel by car, 14% - by bus, and only 2% by train. Unfortunately, Bulgaria is the number one European leader in road crashes, as in 2016, on average, 99 people per million died.

Among the EU Member States, citizens also prefer to travel by cars. Most people travel by car in Lithuania - 90%, by bus - the citizens of Hungary - 22% People most travel by trains in Austria - 12%.
