President Radev: The EU Needs More Effective Decision-Making Mechanism

At the meeting of the “Arraiolos group” heads of state in Riga, Latvia, President Rumen Radev commented that the European Union needs more effective decision-making mechanism, especially in crisis situations. The meeting this year is dedicated to security.

Radev commented that if all efforts were made to make Europe a strong fortress but without discussing the causes of migration, there would be a risk of losing this fortress, Actualno reported.

According to President Radev, without adequate defense capabilities, the EU is unable to provide the security of the Member states in neighboring regions that continue to generate risks and provoke migratory waves. Radev stressed that a question should be answered whether sufficient adequate measures are available to identify and prevent crises both outside the EU and within Europe.

The Forum brings together 14 EU presidents - Portugal, Germany, Latvia, Finland, Italy, Austria, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia, Estonia, Malta, Bulgaria, Croatia, and Greece.
