Organized Crime Group Investigation in Sofia, Bulgaria

Deputy Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev announced that 21 addresses including restaurants in Sofia are saught by the police regarding an investigation of an organized criminal group. Owners of the checked firms are there, the newspaper “24-chasa“ reported. The criminal group is engaged in illegal cigarette production and money laundering.

The Deputy Prosecutor General did not provide any specific information. He explained that warehouses will be searched in Pernik as well. Until now, the discovery of three factories for illegal cigarettes in Gorna Oryahovitsa, Tutrakan, and Dupnitsa is a fact. They have a monthly turnover of about BGN 10 million. The aim of the prosecutors was to reach the owners of these factories.

By the end of the day, it will be clear whether there will be any charges.
