The Director of the Forest Agency Resigns Because the Fence with Romania

The director of the Executive Forest Agency, Grigor Gogov, will resign today or on Monday, Agriculture Minister Rumen Porozhanov announced. The reason - a conflict of interest signal related to the construction fence along the border with Romania against African swine fever.

According to Nova TV's investigation, the Forestry agency, which builds the fence, bought 2,300 wooden stakes for it from a company and according to the wood processing companies, this was done at a price of BGN 3.25 per piece, while their market value is about BGN 1.40. The company is owned and operated by Milcho Yordanov, but according to the investigation, the company is actually controlled by Gogov.

Gogov denies all charges. Today Porozhanov said Gogov decided to resign. Conflict of interest alerts was verified by the ministry and no violations were found. They are also sent to the Committee for Combating Corruption and the withdrawal of illegally acquired property for a further investigation.
