Bulgarian National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology May Stop Working

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) may stop working next week because of the lack of leadership, warned Prof. Hristomir Branzov, the ex-director of the institute in an interview for bTV.

Expectations are that to the weather forecast and the early warning systems will stop. The reason is the impossibility to pay for electricity, communication, supplies, and salaries because there is no one to sign the papers.

In his words, the problem is not the lack of money, as the Ministry of Education has already sent them, but there is simply no one to lead the institution. Branzov commented that he did not know why he was released because there were no reasons written in his documents. He added that the deadline for submitting the documents for a participation in the competition for a next director expired on September 4 and there are no candidates so far.
