Bulgarian Finance Minister: The Budget Will Not End in Deficit

In an interview for Nova TV, Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov commented that if the macro-forecast for 2019 did not change drastically, it is possible to increase the income in the budget sphere with 10% by 1 January.

He expressed confidence that "the budget will not end in deficit" but commented that the prices of some scarce resources will continue to grow. The Finance Minister also commented on the health problems in terms of financing the medical activities, explaining that changes are under discussion, according to which the overpayment for medical services worth more than BGN 700 will be through the activation of a second health insurance.

Goranov was categorical that there would be no reduction in the VAT. In connection with the new ministers after the bus crash in Svoge, Goranov said that they are appropriate and can handle the tasks.

The finance minister also commented on the theme of large-scale fraud and money laundering in recent weeks, saying that retribution would be a lesson for everyone.
