Man Shot in the Head Demands Half a Million in Damages

The Veliko Tarnovo Appeal Court is going to decide whether a man who was shot in the head in 2013 will receive a BGN 500,000 compensation.

24chasa reports that Tihomir Ivanov demands the vast sum from the man who shot him in the head in a drunken fight. The incident happened on December 14, 2013, at around 1:30 AM. The shooter, Alexandar Kunev, used a Makarov pistol. The bullet hit Ivanov’s left temple and was lodged in his skull. While Tihomir wasn’t armed, the court decided that the shooter was justified in his self-defense. Kunev made a failed suicide attempt after he saw Ivanov on the ground. The medical specialists in Tarnovo managed to save both men.

The Veliko Tarnovo court decided that Alexandar Kunev should pay 10,000 leva in damages to Tihomir Ivanov. The victim agrees with the sentence, but not with the sum.
