Bulgaria to Spend 1.6 Million For an Embassy in Saudi Arabia

The Bulgarian Ministry Council announced that BGN 1,612,510 will be spent for establishing a Bulgarian embassy in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia.

The terms for the establishment of an embassy in Saudi Arabia were negotiated during the November 2017 visit of Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and his delegation to SA. This new diplomatic venture will aim to increase Saudi investment in Bulgaria and improve the relations between the two countries. The embassy will include a trade and economy center along with a consulship and a political base for Bulgaria. The exact goal of the BGN 1.6 million and what it will be bought with them is unknown as of yet.

The aforementioned visit by Boyko Borisov and his delegation marked a new chapter in the relations between the two countries. Saudi Arabia reportedly opened an embassy in Sofia earlier this year.
