Police Officer Attacked by a Dog Near Kyustendil, Bulgaria

A Bulgarian police officer had his leg muscles torn by a dog while responding to a signal for a domestic scandal.

Dnes.bg reported on the case, citing information from Darik. The 29-year-old policeman worked for the Kyustendil Police Department. He was part of the team that responded to a domestic scandal in the village of Slokoshtitsa. When the police staff arrived, the owners of the dog failed to restrain it, leading to the canine attacking the police officer and causing the leg wound. The two owners of the dog, a man, and a woman, were arrested for 24 hours. A case file on the incident has been opened.

A recent case of a dog attack ended in a fatality and the euthanization of 11 dogs. These cases are especially prominent in the countryside where canines still act mostly as vicious guard dogs rather than pets.
