Greece and China Signed a Memorandum of Understanding

China and Greece signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday to cooperate further within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. It was signed in Beijing by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Greece and China Nikos Kotzias and Wang Yi, BTA reported.

The Memorandum provides for strengthening the cooperation in the infrastructure connectivity, trade development, the financial sector, etc. Cooperation in tourism, science and technology, education and culture, sports, youth and local self-government is envisaged.

Nikos Kotzias commented on the possibilities of increasing the Greek exports to China in sectors such as agricultural products, tourism, infrastructure, etc. The Chinese minister invited the country to participate in the upcoming Shanghai International Exhibition in Shanghai.

Ministers also spoke on regional and international topics such as the prospects for Southeast Europe and EU-China relations. The Chinese Minister stressed the stabilizing role of Greece in the Southeast Mediterranean and the Balkans. He also expressed a positive attitude towards the Prespa agreement between Athens and Skopje.
