Sofia, Bulgaria -
The best Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov will face a serious competitor for the start of the last Grand Slam tournament for 2018 - the US Open. World No. 8 will have to score against Stan Wawrinka, the winner in 2016. They played against each other at the Wimbledon, where Dimitrov lost.
With a victory over Wawrinka, Dimitrov will face a qualifier in the 2nd round, but in a third round follows a potential battle against Milos Raonic, who is placed under No. 25.
Last season Dimitrov dropped off the tournament after a match with Andrey Rublev. Then Dimitrov won the Final Masters in London. This year, however, his ranking is very difficult, and he has to have a strong performance in New York to have a chance to get close to top 8 competitors this year.
The match will be on Monday, August 27.
