Ukrainian and Chinese Honey is Dumping the Bulgarian Market

“Akacia 1899” Beekeepers Association’s Chairman Nikolay Gaidov said that the import of Ukrainian and Chinese honey is dumping the price of the Bulgarian one. According to him, there is no organization to unite beekeepers and to protect their interests.

Currently, honey producers receive funds under the National Beekeeping Program, FOCUS agency reported, but the funds reach only 1,500 people with more than 4,000 registered. According to the beekeepers, the reasons are insufficient funds, as well as misallocation. The expectations for these funds are to be doubled by the EU in 2020.

Another problem, the Chairman pointed out is the realization of the wholesale output, which is very low and with very low prices. In addition, one more problem is the health of bee families, as there was a lot of mortality among them last year. Sadly, beekeepers do not know how to treat their bee families and what to expect in the future. The Association recommended a research to be done regarding the bee families diseases.
