Bulgaria With One of the Longest Working Weeks in the EU

Eurostat survey results show that the working week in Bulgaria is in the top ten of the longest in the European Union. The survey, conducted in early August 2018, shows that the country's working week in 2017 lasted approximately 40 hours and 9 minutes.

The average for all EU countries is just over 40 hours.

First in the list is the United Kingdom with 42.1 average working hours, followed by Cyprus with 41.6 and Austria with 41.3 hours. The neighbors of Bulgaria - Greece, and Romania – have worked average respectively 41 and 40.6 hours. The least ranked in the chart is Denmark with 37.8 hours and the Netherlands with 39 average working hours.

For comparison, the International Labor Organization recommends only a 4-day working week.
