Bulgarians and Greeks Flooding the Turkish Markets After the Lira Collapse

Clients from Bulgaria and Greece are flooding the markets of Edirne due to the recent fall of the Turkish lira. Especially large is the influx to the Ulus market, which is settled every Friday. There, customers can find all sorts of goods – home accessories, clothing, groceries, and more.

Traders say in a BTA interview that sales are very good, and because of the variety of goods, the market is becoming one of the most visited. This is the reason why both traders and customers are pleased.

Bulgarians who have visited Edirne comment that they can buy twice as much for the same money, and with the groceries, they can spend more than a week. In addition, Bulgarians also buy detergents because their price is better than in Bulgaria.

About one million Bulgarians visited Turkey in the first six months of this year.
