178 EUR will be the Poverty Line in Bulgaria in 2019

The government decided that the poverty line in Bulgaria in 2019 would be BGN 348 (EUR 177.91). The amount is BGN 27 higher than in 2018.

The amount is determined on the basis of a Methodology approved by the Council of Ministers in 2006. The indicator is calculated according to the data in the survey "Household Budget Surveys in the Republic of Bulgaria", which is conducted annually by the National Statistical Institute.

The total average income per household per person in the second quarter of 2018 is BGN 1,474 (EUR 753.58) and increased by 8.7% compared to the same period in 2017.

The total cost per person in a household in the second quarter of 2018 is BGN 1,331 (EUR 680.47) and increases by 11.4% compared to the same quarter of 2017.

The poverty line is used as a benchmark in the formation of social policy in the field of income and living standards of the population.
