Bulgaria with the Fastest Melting Population in the World

Business Insider, published a paper devoted to the countries with serious demographic problems. The ranking includes Bulgaria as the country with the fastest melting population and the Bulgarians to be soon as few as after the end of the Second World War.

The Bulgarians are expected to be only 5.4 million in 2050, not only because of the low fertility rate of 1.46 children per woman but also due to the high emigration.

The fastest-losing their population countries in the world are in Europe. After Bulgaria in the ranking are Latvia, Ukraine, Croatia, Romania, Moldova, Lithuania, Poland, Serbia, and Hungary. Latvia's population is steadily dropping, due to the fact that people are leaving the country to look for jobs in other parts of the European Union. Spain has more deaths than births each year, and some cities are already almost abandoned.

Japan, South Korea, Italy, the United Kingdom also are in the ranking. Most of these countries, however, managed to compensate for the decline in birth rates with immigrant admissions. In China, with a population of over a billion people, experts predict that in 2030 25% of the country's population will be over 60 years old.
