Bulgarian Defense Minister Blames Merkel For Migrant Crisis

The Bulgarian Defense Minister, Krasimir Karakachanov, blamed German Chancellor Angela Merkel for inviting migrants into Europe and flooding the Balkans.

During an interview with Nova, Karakachanov said that the immigrants “didn’t travel from the Middle East, Afghanistan, or from Africa to come to Bulgaria. They came, invited by Mrs. Merkel and by other liberal European politicians who said that Europe is open for them. Bulgaria was actually just a transit corridor for them and nothing more. Why would Bulgaria and other European states, other small states, who always expressed reserve towards such a European policy, should suffer.”

Karakachanov also stated: “How will Bulgaria return 45,000 illegal immigrants? Neither the current nor the previous Bulgarian governments invited the illegal immigrants to come to Europe. Bulgaria took a lot of losses. We are still posting police officers to the border to help the Border Guard.”

The Defense Minister reminded that the United Patriots have voiced the same objections towards illegal immigration for 5 years now, and that their words are finally being heard. He also stated that if a hundred thousand illegal immigrants are deported to Greece, they’ll simply try to return to Western Europe.
