Li Keqiang: We Are Proud of Boyan Petrov's Courage

During a visit to Sofia today, the Prime Minister of China, Li Keqiang, received the flag of Boyan Petrov, the Bulgarian mountaineer who went missing in the Himalayans earlier this year. China’s PM stated that the flag will be exhibited in a museum. He also thanked Petrov’s wife for sending it to him, saying: “We are proud of the courage of the Bulgarian mountaineer.”

Li Keqiang invited Petrov’s wife Radoslava Nenova to China. She thanked him for the invitation and for the operations for searching the mountains for her missing husband. The Chinese PM is in Sofia for the China - Central and Eastern Europe meeting hosted by Bulgaria.

Boyan Petrov was a famous Bulgarian climber who disappeared on  May 3rd, 2018 while climbing Mount Shisha Pangma in the Himalayas. Petrov was the first Bulgarian to ascent the mountain tops of Gasherbrum 1, K2, and Manaslu. Sadly, the search operation ended, his body was never found and he is presumed to be dead.
