Bulgarian Minister of Education Says There Will Be Big Changes to Education System in Fall

High concentration of violations was shown in the check which started a month ago. This was stated by Minister of Education Krasimir Valchev, referring to a case with the lunch discounts at the Technical University in Varna. The most serious measure which he can take part in is the withdrawal of accreditation.

Failure to comply with the admission methodology in professional fields is the main problem noted after the check. Valchev said he would propose "big changes" in the autumn in terms of higher education.

On the issue of the non-Roma children's admission to the school in Blagoevgrad, the Minister commented that apart from primary segregation, there is also a secondary one, because when the Roma students become 15-20% of the whole school - then the parents of the other children start to sign them up to other schools.

Krassimir Valchev also pointed out that 206,000 children are not in school. Moreover, 150,000 of them were out of the country, but they figure in the drop-out lists.
