Eurostat: Nearly Half of the Cars in Bulgaria are Over 20 years Old

Automobile Eurostat data for 2017 about Bulgaria shows that Bulgarians massively drive second-hand cars, nearly half of the auto park in Bulgaria is over 20 years old and the cars are mainly diesel.

According to European statistics last year, there were about 3.4 million cars in Bulgaria, which is approximately 450 cars per 1000 Bulgarians.

The auto park in the country is growing with around 100,000 cars a year, but nearly half of them are over 20 years old. Statistics show that 35% of the cars are up to 15 years, 10% of them are up to 10 years old.

New cars up to 5 years, however, are only 5%. Belgia has the highest percentage of new cars in the EU, and Poland has the highest in old cars.
