50 People Killed and over 100 Injured in the Fire in Greece

DPA reported that the number of people killed by forest fires in Greece reached 50 people.

On Monday, near the Greek capital Athens, several outbreaks of forest fires arose, threatening people's lives. There are at least 104 injured, 11 of them seriously. The Hellenic Ministry of Defense has filed a request to the United States for unmanned aerial vehicles to monitor the affected areas of the country. It has also become clear that Greece has requested assistance under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism for international aid by air and land.

Over 600 firefighters and 300 fire engines are struggling to stop the fire.

The reason for the difficult fire control is the wind which has a speed up to 100 km/h. The fire in the Kalamos area is under partial control. However, at this stage, the other two are not - these in the Kineta and Neoz Voutzas regions.

There is no information about injured Bulgarians. Bulgarians can seek assistance if needed: +30 6937 096 220.
