Ministry of Education and Science to Attract 31,000 Students Back to the Classrooms

This year, the Ministry of Education and Science is organizing а large-scale action of the institutions to attract 31,000 missing students back to the classrooms.

At a meeting of the Council of Ministers, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov ordered ministers to help with everything needed. Last year, 1,100 teams, including more than 11,000 teachers, experts, social workers, police officers, etc., went to more than 200,000 children's addresses reported to be out of the education system.

Of these more than 200,000 wanted in class pupils, 24,000 children were returned, unfortunately, after the beginning of the school year, they were only 22,000. 70% of the children turned out living abroad without the state having any information for that, as to whether they were visiting a school there.

According to the Minister of Education and Science, up to now, the system is left by 12,000 more students, 2/3 of them are studying abroad.

The main reasons for dropping out are cultural, related to unwillingness, lack of interest and even stopping children to go to school from the parents in order for them to start working of helping the household.
