0.4% Decline in Bulgarian Construction Sector

Eurostat data shows that in May 2018 Bulgaria registered a slight decrease of -0.4% in the construction sector on an annual basis.

The increase of 0.3% in production in construction in the euro area in May 2018, compared with April 2018, is due to civil engineering rising by 0.4% and building construction by 0.2%.

In the EU28, the increase of 1.2% is due to building construction rising by 1.2% and civil engineering by 1.1%.

Among the EU Member States, reported in May, Hungary (6%), Slovenia (3.4%), Czech Republic and Germany (3.1%) recorded the highest growth. A decline was recorded in Slovakia (-6%) and France (-3.4%).

On an annual basis, the largest increase in construction rates was observed in Slovenia (30.3%), Poland (23.3%) and Hungary (15.2%).
