18 July 1837 - the Birth of the Apostle of the Bulgarian Freedom

Today, in Karlovo will be the celebrations of the 181st anniversary of the birth of Vasil Levski.

In his hometown at the Historical Museum, an exhibition in memory of the Apostle of Freedom is opened for the tourists and curious ones. Visitors of the town can see valuable exhibits related to the life of Levski - an original edition of his first biography, as well as other publications that can tell more about him and his extraordinary life. The celebrations will end with a fire-check.

President Rumen Radev will open a monument of Vasil Levski in the village of Ruen.

Vasil Levski is a national hero. He is one of the ideologists of the Bulgarian national revolution. He was born on 18 July 1837 in Karlovo, and the cause of his life was the creation of the Internal Revolutionary Organization. He was betrayed in the winter of 1872 and captured in the "Kakrinsko hanche" near Lovech. He was hanged on 19 February 1873. Every year, on this date, the country commemorates him in the capital Sofia.
