Bulgarian PM Provides Feedback on past EU Presidency

Today, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov commentеd on the past EU presidency.

The prime minister was categorical that the achieved results were not PR campaign but a political reality for the development of the region and of Europe, and added that the first presidency of Bulgaria was a test for our European identity, and the country has shown responsibility.

Borisov did not forget to thank all the ministers and experts who worked on the slogan of the presidency "Unity makes the power" to become the motto of the European cause. According to him, 39 legislative cases have been moved forward. There were also 58 Council Conclusions, one Presidency Conclusion, and 17 Progress Reports.

The key achievements, in his view, are the on-time launch of the negotiating process for the next Multiannual Financial Framework after 2020. Moreover, the emphasis on the transition to a circular economy and eco-innovation to reduce the harmful impact on the environment and the health of the citizens.

"As a result of Bulgaria's efforts, differences between the Member States have been overcome and a common approach to the banking package has been achieved," he said.
