Electronic Voting System by the End of 2018
Sofia, Bulgaria -
By the end of 2018, electronic voting should start working. Voting through the Internet will allow citizens to be identified by a bank card or mobile number. This envisages the technical assignment for the public discussion by the State Agency for Electronic Management.
Alternatives to verify the identity of voters are provided for the electronic voting system to work without the e-identification of the Ministry of Interior. One of the options - by Unique citizenship number and identity verification by zero payment via bank card. The second alternative is to get a mobile security code. The electronic voting system must be fully ready by December 31, 2018, and to be used in the European Parliament elections in May.
The registration will start 18 days before the election day and will end 2 days before it. On the election day, the voter will be able to indicate what he wants to vote for. Then an electronic bulletin will be loaded, where he can mark the vote, and as a design should it be a copy of the paper one. There will also be an additional validation of the vote via a smartphone application, which will scan the 2D code.
The system will allow a person to check if their voice is correctly accounted for, as well as a chance to change the vote within the election day.
