Amendments to the Personal Data Protection Act

The Government approved a draft Law on Amendment and Supplement to the Personal Data Protection Act.
There will be a general and a special regime for the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of their personal data and the free movement of personal data. Furthermore, the law includes details about the protection of the processing of personal data by judicial authorities for the purposes of preventing, investigating, detecting or prosecuting criminal offenses or executing penalties, including prevention of threats to public security.
The aim is to protect individuals in relation to the processing of personal data. The draft law unifies the provisions on the protection of personal data at the national level and in the international exchange of police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters.
Detailed definitions of the key concepts in the field of personal data, as well as the principles, powers, and conditions of processing, both at EU level and with third countries or international organizations, are included in the project.
