The Wife and Child of a Bulgarian Citizen Died in the Train Crash in Turkey

The wife and the child of a Bulgarian citizen died in the yesterday's train crash in the Turkish province of Tekirdağ. The man has also a Turkish citizenship. That was announced yesterday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The woman had only Turkish citizenship. However, a child under 1 year of age is a Bulgarian citizen by law, as one of the parents is a Bulgarian citizen.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Edirne and in Istanbul carry out additional checks whether there are any other Bulgarian citizens affected.

The yesterday's train crash in the Turkish province of Tekirdağ killed at least 24 people, 318 were injured, 124 of whom were sent for hospital treatment.
