The Bulgarian diplomatic mission in Mexico recommends that citizens have enough food and water to keep up-to-date on the situation in the country and that they follow the instructions of the local authorities to deal with the disaster.

About 2000 people have been sheltered in special havens. Over 3,200 people have been evacuated from the area affected by the disaster.

“The houses became ovens, and the village - a crematorium, there are no survivors,” said volunteer firefighter Francisco Flores. The volcano erupted on Sunday and buried the hot ashes and muddy villages on its way. The eruption was so fast that residents could not escape in time. The death of dozens of people in the country has been declared a three-day national sin. The number of victims is expected to increase.

Fuego (means “fire” in Spanish) is located less than 50 km west of the capital of Guatemala City and is one of the most active volcanos in Central America. Sunday’s eruption was the second so far this year.
