Burgas Becomes Bulgaria's Best Bulgarian City for 2017

Burgas became Bulgaria’s best city to live in for 2017.

For an 11th consecutive year, Darik Radio awards Bulgarian cities for various criteria. The other winners are: Greenest City – Sliven, European City – Sofia, Business city – Dimitrovgrad, City of the Flag – Smolyan, City of Financial Resiliency – Plovdiv.

Burgas’s award was given by the vice-premier Tomislav Donchev during a ceremony.

This is the fourth time the city wins, with the previous prizes being for 2010, 2012, and 2013. In previous years, Sofia, Stara Zagora, Varna, and Veliko Tarnovo have won the awards for the best city.

Burgas is the second largest city on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coastline and the fourth largest in the country. The city’s industrial area, tourism, transport and business opportunities were part of the reason why its so often awarded “Best City to live in” by Darik Radio.
