Hail and Tornado in Varna Left 40 Houses without Roofs

About 40 houses in Varna region have been left without a roof after a storm and tornado passed on Monday.

The heavy rain that poured out in Varna region on Monday was accompanied by hail and tornado.

The centre of Varna was under water and this caused a crisis in the city.

Many trains did not leave the main station, others waited for the storm to stop at close stops.

All victims will be given a one-time allowance of 325 BGN. Municipalities may apply for aid to the Commission for disasters and accidents if material damage to the infrastructure or public buildings is caused.

The reason for the flood in Varna is that the channel, passing under the railroad tracks, could not hold the water. "Perhaps one should think about another route of the channel," said Stoyan Pasev, District Governor of Varna.

The forecast is that the rain in Varna will stop on Thursday. The last flood in the city was on June 19, 2014 - 13 people died in the Asparuhovo district.
