Zaharieva: "Europe Closes the Door for Economic Migrants"

"If you are a refugee who runs away from the war, you will not choose where to live in Europe, but you will stop in the first country, which is sure for you," said Ekaterina Zaharieva, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Zaharieva: "Europe closes the door for economic migrants". At the meeting of the Euro leaders in Brussels on the issue of migration, a common conservation of the external borders of the European Union was adopted.

The idea is by 2020 Frontex to become border police at every external border, increasing its staff and reaching a number of 10,000. It is also expected to increase the technical assistance for the service. Bulgaria's Foreign minister assured that it is determined to have more money for the African Trust Fund, which was set up to help Africa in the first place with measures against migration.

The main idea is migrants to go to centres outside the European Union and there to be decided whether they are refugees or economic migrants. But in order for this to be done, agreements must be concluded between the EU and the countries where the centres will be.
