The Financing of Energy-Efficient Projects: Doubled

A new Finance Agreement has been signed under the program "Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, Energy Security", part of the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014-2021.
The Agreement is signed by Grete Odegard, part of the Financial Mechanism Committee and by Ivan Ivanov - representative of the National Coordination Unit at the Council of Ministers.
The grants are 28 million euros of the total 33 million budget. The aim of the program is to reduce electricity consumption and the funds for the purposes are almost doubled, compared to the previous programming period.
Part of the activities are projects for utilization of the water and geothermal potential in the country. Also, for improving the energy efficiency of the municipal buildings. Deputy Minister of Energy Zecho Stankov said that: "Even in the new programming period the municipalities will receive a 100% grant for their projects aimed at improving the energy efficiency of buildings."
