The New EU Budget Will Benefit Bulgaria

The new budget proposed by the EU will make states take on more responsibilities.

This is what Ognyan Zlatev, Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria, said during a public debate on “EU, EC, EIF, and what? How do we (not) communicate on European issues.“

"We are in a whole new and different historical moment of what it was when the EU was created. For more than 60 years, things have changed, the generations have changed, and young people take everything for granted. But we have to remember that we carry ourselves responsible for the world around us," Zlatev commented.

Asked how EU new multi-annual financial framework will affect Bulgaria, Zlatev responded: "The hard work to protect this budget is yet to come. Bulgaria will benefit from the way the annual budget is written - about 8% more are the funds for Bulgaria.“

"No pan-European television will be created because it would be direct interference in the free market. The only way we can intervene is to teach the young people a European spirit while they are very young, and not to leave them under the influence of televisions from other continents," said Zlatev during the conference.
