Bulgaria: Second in Europe in New Passenger Car Registrations

In Bulgaria, 3308 new cars were sold in May, an increase of 34.6% on an annual basis.

That puts Bulgaria in second place by growth in the EU, according to data from the European Association of Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA). Before Bulgaria, is Romania, which reports growth of 43.3%. Car registrations increased in Spain (+10.6%), France (+3.5%) and Germany (+2.6%), although demand contracted in the United Kingdom (-6.8%).

The demand for new cars in the European Union remained positive, largely sustained by the strong performance of the new EU member states, where registrations went up by 11.6% so far this year.

A total of 1 398 913 new cars were sold across the EU last month, which is 0.8% more per year. From the beginning of 2018 to 31 May the number of new cars sold is 6 879 885. 14 496 of them are in Bulgaria, which is a growth of 25.6% compared to the same period in 2017.
