Majority of Serbs Don't See a Solution to Kosovo Problem

63% of Serbs think that freezing the conflict with Kosovo is the best path forward at the moment.

The Factor Plus agency conducted a survey on Serbian opinions concerning the conflict with Kosovo. Every second citizen interviewed predicts no solution in the next 5-10 years. 21% think that a potential solution must mean that both Albanians are Serbs will lose something. Only 9% think that a diplomatic solution must be reached no matter what.

Another 35% of the participants thought that Serbia will neither make an agreement with Kosovo nor recognize it. 40% think that a lack of an official agreement between the two countries will lead to economic isolation. 30% fear a war between Serbia and Kosovo. More than half think that Kosovo belongs to Serbia.

The leaders of Kosovo and Serbia met during the EU-Western Balkans summit in Sofia, where two protesters waved a “Kosovo is Serbia” flag in front of the summit building. Recently, reports of Serbian military presence on the border with Kosovo surfaced.
