The Bulgarian Minister of Interior Talks About Bulgaria Leaving NATO

While he was in Sandanski for the opening of the new building of the firefighting unit, the Minister of Interior Valentin Radev addressed Veselin Mareshki's comments on Bulgaria having to leave NATO. Radev reminded that even the Prime Minsiter himself has said that Bulgaria's membership in both NATO and the EU is the best thing that has happened to Bulgaria. Therefore, as Radev concluded, Bulgaria cannot exit either of these unions.

Radev assured the media ergo the public that Bugaria's best line of defense is NATO. He admitted that without NATO, Bulgaria cannot afford the military tech needed to provide security for the nation and the country's borders. The Minister commented that Bulgaria, contrary to popular belief, is not a small country but rather a country of medium size in Europe and there are a lot of challenges that Bulgaria could not face alone. Radev reckons that Bulgaria's progress is to a great extent a product of Bulgaria's membership of NATO and the EU and said that any form of skepticism should be left in the past.
