The State's Prosecutor Wants a New Penal Act

In its yearly report on the prosecution's job and the job of investigative organs, the national prosecutor's office made some remarks regarding the Penal Act. The national prosecution believes that liability for provocation towards bribing should be removed.

They also suggest that forms of immunity for witnesses should be found.

Special intelligence devices were also a major point in the report. Some of them are actively used in financial and tax crime investigations but the law allows their use only over a limited period of time. The prosecutors suggest this period should be extended. The report has already been sent to the Supreme Court Council and the National Assembly. The statistics in the report were issued by the Ministry of Interior and they point towards a clear increase in the number of registered crimes but also a decrease in the number of solved crimes.

Crimes against property dominate the "crime market". The number of economic crimes and crimes against the person is also rising. The growth of acquittals is also traditionally low. In 2017 the number of acquittals is only 2.7%.

Apart from current remarks, the state's prosecutor keeps on insisting that the Penal act should be modernized as a whole.
