The Last day of the Rescue Mission for Boyan Petrov

Today, the partner of the missing mountaineer Boyan Petrov - Radoslava Nenova announced during an appearance on bTV that this will be the final day of the rescue mission from the Chinese rescue teams.

The Sherpa team that was looking for Petrov between camp 1 and base camp has now returned to the base camp. Sadly, they couldn't find traces leading to Petrov. However, the weather seems to be getting better and the team wants to make a final operation before drawing any final conclusions.

It has also become clear that if the weather isn't good enough for helicopters to fly today, they will wait until tomorrow morning for one last flight around Shishapangma. As Nenova said herself, today's operation won't go far up the mount and will be mainly concentrated around the lower points and the traditional track towards the top. There are some places that the rescue team has marked on the satellite picture that cannot be seen clearly. That's where the team will focus their efforts.

Kiril Petkov, a member of Petrov's team said that between base camp and camp 1 one could survive for about half a month. However, he is concerned that Petrov might have fallen in a crack somewhere between camp 3 and the top of the mountain.
