Expensive Oil Raises Gas Prices
Sofia, Bulgaria -
Higher prices of gas, hot water and electricity are expected from July 1 if the oil price jump in international markets continues to rise. This is what the chairman of the energy regulator Ivan Ivanov said.
It is too early for the expected prices to be clarified, but they will be higher than at the moment. Some days ago, Bulgargas announced its forecast, according to which natural gas should rise by over 16 %.
Until June 10, Bulgargas will file an official application for prices after a careful monitoring of the price of the oil on the world markets this month.
The head of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commision pointed out that the increase in the price of crude oil is a fact and that all Bulgarian fuel consumers feel it because petrol and diesel prices have risen.
His calculations show that Bulgargas's forecast is real because the price of crude oil on international markets has increased by nearly 20 %.
The President of the Commision hopes that the international events that have prompted this increase will gradually resolve next month, citing the crisis over Iran's nuclear program.
