Average Salary in Bulgaria Grows by 7.1% to 1077 leva

The average wage in Bulgaria is said to have become 1077 leva in the first trimester of 2018.

The National Institute of Statistics revealed the data. Bulgaria’s fastest growing salary for the first part of 2018 was in the mining industry, with a 14.4% increase to 1642 leva, in education with 12.2% - 1033 leva, and construction with 10.3% - 820 leva.

The professionals working in the “Creation and spread of information and creative products” have the largest salaries in Bulgaria at 2584 leva. Not surprising considering IT and programming are part of this category.

If you work in a restaurant in Bulgaria, you’ll have both the lowest average salary at 655 leva and the smallest growth at about 1% since last year. The second lowest salary is in construction - 820 leva. The salaries of the government and private sectors growth with 9% and 6% respectively. The overall number of employed people in Bulgaria is 2.31 million, a 1.5% increase since last year.
