Advertising in Bulgaria Still Dominated by TV in 2017

Bulgaria’s advertising business continues to grow. The largest sector of that business remains rooted in the television ads, despite the prognosis that the Internet will completely kill TV soon.

The ad data was presented during the “Forum of the communicative industry” and reported by Capital.bg. It was revealed that the revenue from the Bulgarian advertising market reached 370 million leva in 2017, marking an 8% increase from the previous year.

Television has a wide reach and low prices of advertising, meaning that this way of promotion remains the go-to choice for companies that can afford ads. Bulgaria’s TV outlets received 220 million leva for advertising in 2017. Pharmaceutical companies tend to prefer this method of promoting their products.

Meanwhile, Internet advertising is growing, with a reported 100 million leva revenue for 2017. Young people in Bulgaria tend to favour spending time on the computer rather than in front of the TV, which could possibly kill the hegemony of television ads soon.
