Famous Bulgarian Criminal Vladimir Stefanov Escapes Prison

One of Bulgaria’s most notorious and dangerous criminals broke out of jail today. Vladimir Pelov Stefanov and another inmate by the name of Radoslav Kolev Angelov escaped from prison the Central Sofian Prison today after attacking two guards. According to some sources, the duo escaped on a gray “Renault” car heading to the Sofian district of “Nadezhda.”

The police are currently chasing after the fugitives and questioning their relatives for any available information that may help the case.

Stefanov (right side of the picture) was serving a 32-year sentence for robbing a goldsmith, kidnappings (one of which was of a 9-year-old child), and a shootout with 4 police officers in Botevgrad. In addition to his illegal exploits,   Stefanov got famous by being accepted into the Blagoevgrad University’s Ecology program with the highest grade of the class while he was serving a 15-year sentence for murder.  Obviously, education didn’t satisfy Stefanov’s interests, as he continued his criminal career with the robbery, which was recorded on camera.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs called for anyone that may have information relating to the escape to contact them on the 112 phone line. The fugitives are known to be aggressive, dangerous, and possibly armed.
