The Bulgarian State Will Not Take Part in the CEZ Deal

During the meeting of the temporary parliamentary committee on the CEZ-deal, the Prime Minister of Bulgaria was expected to show up and explain the government's stance on the deal. However, PM Borisov did not appear and the Minister of Finance - Vladislav Goranov served as his substitute.

While in the meeting, Minister Goranov said that the Council of Ministers has made its decision and it will stay away from the deal between Ginka Varbakova's "Inercom" and the Czech company, currently selling its Bulgarian branch. If one is to strictly follow the rules of a free market, this is the most reasonable stance the government could have offered. However, during a survey, it turned out that 72% of the people disapprove of the deal and believe that the government should be in charge of electricity providers.
