Today Is a Day of National Mourning

Today is a day of national mourning for the victims of the severe catastrophe of Trakia motorway.

On the fatal Friday, the 13th passenger bus of Union Ivconi, travelling from Bourgas to Sofia, turned over. The incident killed 6 people, and 23, including a child, were injured. More than 14 ambulances carried the wounded to 6 capital Sofia hospitals.

In their memory, the national flags of all state institutions today will be halved.

President Rumen Radev, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and Parliament Speaker Tsveta Karayancheva gave condolences to the victims' relatives.

"I was deeply saddened by the news of the terrible accident that took away the lives of Bulgarian citizens. At this difficult time for you, allow me to share the sincere and human sympathy and solidarity," says Tsveta Karayancheva.

It is confident that the responsible institutions will do everything possible to find the cause of the incident and that the necessary measures are taken to stop the war on the roads.
