Bulgarian Pensioners Will Be Getting Easter Bonuses

The government has officially decided that about 1.2 million pensioners will be getting Easter bonuses with their next pension. The bonus is going to be 40BGN (€20) and will be given to the pensioners whose pension is below or at the poverty line in Bulgaria (321BGN).

This means that the government will be giving about 50 million BGN more for pensioners this year. The Prime Minister Boyko Borisov explained that this is not a coincidence. The steady increase of the national budget and the GDP have made it a common practice for the government to give pensioners bonuses on Easter and Christmas. There are over 1 million people waiting for these bonuses - this makes up 56.5% of all pensioners, reminded the social Minister Biser Petkov. The pensions for April will be available on April 4th along with the holiday bonuses.
