120 Bulgarians Stuck on Timisoara Airport Because of Bad Weather

Over 120 Bulgarian citizens are currently at the Timișoara Airport. The reason is bad weather conditions in Bulgaria. The flight carried out by Ryanair was a direct flight from England to Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Due to the bad weather, the Captain of the plane had no choice but to land in Romania. The people have been stranded there since 21.00 last night.

The passengers were offered transport to Bulgaria by bus - about 60 of the passengers used the opportunity. Others report that the buses were old public transportation buses that aren't meant for long distances. One of the passengers told bTV that the plane's Captain promised them that they would be checked-in into a hotel for the night and sent back home the next day. The people who decided to stay explain their decision by referring to the weather and road conditions in Bulgaria at the moment. Ryanair has given the stranded passengers vouchers for €5 - which is enough for a coffee and a bottle of water. The Bulgarian consul in Bucharest is also waiting for further information. Ryanair is still to come out with a statement and a solution to the situation.
